On the 3rd of February 2022, the Government announced that they would be issuing a £150 Tax rebate to approximately 20 million households who are in Council Tax bands A to D.

This came in lieu of rising living costs and the struggles that many households encountered during the global pandemic.

While 8,249 households have already received their payments, those who do not pay their Council Tax via Direct Debit have been kept waiting and, this week, have been informed that they should expect letters finalising this payment from the Post Office in May.

On Thursday the 28th of April, Rutland County Council released a statement confirming that they: "have now made 8,249 awards to householders in Bands A to D who paid Council Tax by Direct Debit on 1, 19 and 25 April. Everyone who has paid their Direct Debit in April will be paid £150 by the end of the month.

"We have paid 75% of all awards due. For those not on Direct Debit or have recently set up a Direct Debit, we are working with the Post Office to send letters and will update this page as soon as we have more information."

If you weren't eligible for this Council Tax rebate, Rutland County Council also received £43,050 to support vulnerable households.
