What is your favourite local business?
We asked and you responded, and the results are in.
In July, we asked our readers: Do you have a favourite local business?
And you did not disappoint. You recommended cafés, restaurants, pubs, shops, attractions, salons and other local business and service providers.
With multiple recommendations, Warner's Traditional Sweet Shop, B Faulkner and Sons and Leeson Family Butchers were popular suggestions.
Rutland is home to a huge range of eateries and independent food and treat suppliers, from purveyors of local meats and cheeses to handmade goodies - such as Rutland fudge from Chris Warner at the Market Street sweet shop.
Other food and drink establishments that got a shout out were Otters Fine Foods, The Angler, Castle Cottage Cafe and Daphne's Tea Rooms at Rutland Farm Park - a popular local attraction with families, particularly with the school holidays in full swing.
The team at Rutland Farm Park recently hosted a family fun day, raising over £1,000 for Blood Cancer UK.
The family-led team at the farm also gave a mention to The Quoin Print Co for providing great quality prints and goods and top customer service.
Pubs and watering holes that also got a mention included Ovation Wine & Spirit Bar, The Crown Tavern and The Wheatsheaf - a top spot on Northgate for a classic plate of pub grub.
Finally on the list of pubs nominated was The Fox and Hounds in Knossington - just a short drive from Oakham. Passionate patrons praised the service, Wednesday night steak night deal and Thursday night dinner specials.
It wasn't all food and drinks venues that got a mention though.
Number Three Eco Salon and Ellique Beauty were also recognised by customers. In fact, the beauticians from Ellique are getting ready to team up with the Tonnerre stylists as the Tonnerre team move from their home of 26 years into Ellique's South Street venue.
They will be opposite another popular South Street business, Peeky's Quirky Gifts. Run by a husband and wife duo, Peeky's sells gifts, furniture, homeware, trinkets and more practical home buys.
Another local shop that got a shout-out was Connie Taylor Ceramics. Connie sells homewares and handmade plates, bowls mugs and more from Victoria Hall - a venue that is returning to life after the appointment of David Graham as Chairman just over a year ago.
Victoria Hall has a huge range of events, exhibitions and open days coming up. Head to our What's On page to find out more and to share your own events, fundraisers and more going on across Rutland.
