The 2023 Oakham Pride Window Dressing competition has begun.

Following a successful inaugural celebration in 2022, Oakham Pride is returning this year, with a range of events taking place on the run up to the big day on the 17 June.

The 2022 event saw nearly 1000 people flock to the market town of Rutland to enjoy live music and a Pride march, as well as stalls and events at Oakham Castle.

Last year's event also prompted a host of shop owners and staff to dress their windows to mark the occasion. The window displays were judged by the Oakham Pride panel and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

The window dressing competition marking Oakham Pride 2023 was launched this Easter weekend.

All shops are welcome and encouraged to join in, decorating their windows and store fronts with the Oakham Pride flag and themes, showing their support loud and proud.

Lucy Slessor, the Chair of Oakham Pride, said: "If you want to be in with a chance of winning our annual best dressed window shield, get started now!"

You can also get in the mood for the big event with the Oakham Pride Masquerade Ball, taking place at Victoria Hall in May to raise funds for the big event in June.
