This weekend, Oakham RFC welcomed members of the local Ukrainian community to the pre-match lunch at their Rutland Showground clubhouse.

Prior to Oakham's league match against the Dunstablians on Saturday 11 February, a number of Ukrainians and members of the Rotary Club of Rutland joined club President, Chris Burton, and fellow Oakham supporters for the pre-match lunch.

The visit had been arranged by members of the Rotary Club of Rutland, including Oakham RFC members Dusty Millar and Keith Crellin, the guests being hosted by Rotary President Tad Szymborski, who was joined by his wife Isabel.

It was the first experience of watching live Rugby Union for all of the Ukrainian party, who enjoyed an abridged explanation of the Laws of the Game by Oakham Rugby Club President, Chris.

It turned out to be a great day to support the club, as the home support was enthusiastic and the lads brought home a massive win of 52 - 0 against the Dunstablians.

ORFC President, Chris, said: "This was a welcome initiative by the Rotary Club Of Rutland, one of which I hope will be repeated soon."
