Oakham South By-election: Andy Burton, Conservative Party Candidate
I am delighted to let you know that I am standing to be your local County Councillor on election day, Thursday 19th August. I live in Oakham with my wife, Andrea, a retired nurse, and have three grown up daughters. I am a local businessman who advises farmers on sustainable agriculture.
Why would I be a good Councillor for you? I have previous experience serving as a County Councillor and I am currently serving residents of Oakham as a Town Councillor, seeking to help businesses recover from the pandemic, as well as working to put on local events for you.
Your priorities are why I am standing. I will work to;
Improve access to GP services
Help businesses recover from COVIDSupport young people in our town
Protect our community I want to see a larger medical facility in Oakham which is fit for the future, to ensure that you have access to appropriate healthcare and I will be working with our MP, Alicia Kearns, and the County Council to deliver the best outcome for all residents. I will also work with the County Council to help businesses bounce back from the pandemic and ensure that our High Street and local shops can thrive in Oakham. You will know that Oakham is a wonderful place to live, work and socialise. I will work to make sure that there are work, training and education opportunities for our young people, along with affordable housing, so that they can remain in the town they grew up in. I will work with our MP, Alicia Kearns, and our Police and Crime Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, to secure an increase in Police Officers for Oakham as well as more marked vehicles to give all residents peace of mind. If you elect me on Thursday 19th August, you will have a hard-working local Councillor who will make sure that you and your family are at the heart of everything I do. In the meantime, if there is any issue I can help you with, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Andy Burton [email protected] 07846 210409- Nub News will run a similar piece from the Liberal Democrat candidate Paul Browne when we receive it.
