Oakham Town Council are now working in partnership with Rutland County Council (RCC) to keep the Oakham Hopper in service.

The bus service runs in and around the county town from Monday to Saturday providing free transport for anyone who needs it.

The route includes stops at John Street, the bus station in the centre of town that was vandalised last week.

One resident shared her story of the service: "My 92 year old mother-in-law uses the hopper every day and rates it highly. The driver is lovely and very helpful. It's amazing how many people don't realise that this is a free service for everyone."

Until September 2021, the Oakham Hopper was a 100% subsidised contracted local bus service operated by Centrebus Ltd on behalf of RCC.
