Oakham: What's on in Oakham this weekend

Get up close and personal with Oakham and its history this weekend with a guided tour on Saturday, followed by the annual Food and Drink Fair on Sunday. Alternatively, stray a little further afield and enjoy the Burghley House opening weekend.
Tours leave every Friday morning, beginning on Friday the 18th of March 2022, at 11am from the Rutland County Museum. These tours will allow visitors to take in the buildings, history and tales of Oakham settlement, as well as Oakham Castle and its residents past and present. The museum opens at 10am, so visitors can pop in early and have a quick look round the Museum before starting their tour. Finish with a coffee and cake in the Castle Cafe and surroundings whilst viewing their amazing collection of over 200 iconic 'Rutland' horseshoes at the Castle. The Guides are working in collaboration with Rutland County Council and look forward to welcoming you to Oakham.Burghley can't wait to welcome you back this Spring!
Burghley House are getting ready for another exciting open season in 2022 and from Saturday 19th March 2022, the House & Gardens will be open every day, excluding Fridays.
The House: 10:30am – 4:30pm, with last admittance at 4pm. Open every day except Friday.
The Gardens: 10:30am – 5pm, with last admittance at 4:30pm, open daily.
Visitors can enter the House and tour magnificent state rooms, view historic and renowned collections of Fine Art and English and Continental Furniture, and view the amazing locations where recent Batman films have been shot.
The Rutland Food and Drink Festival will return on the 20th of March and we for one, can't wait! The event will run from 11am until 4pm inside Oakham Castle, as well as outside in the grounds of the Castle and in the Market Place. There will be food, drink and craft stalls, and much, much more. Previous Food and Drink Fairs have been well attended, and what a great way to celebrate the coming of warmer weather and longer days. See you there!On top of this Warner's Traditional Sweetshop will begin serving their long awaited ice-cream and milkshakes on Saturday the 19th, so take a turn around the town and swing by this family run shop to grab a tasty treat.
