Today, Friday 1 September, Oakham's new bakery is opening its doors.

Residents have been following the work being done both in and outside Butterwick's new Oakham High Street store, and can now head in to take a look at the revamped interior of the shop and pick up a range of bakes, shakes, coffees and more.

The former home of Fat Face has been empty since March 2022, but will spring back to life today as the East Midlands bakery chain, Butterwick, opens in Oakham.

This comes as Costa Coffee gets ready to close on 14 September, and the future of Rutland Refill café and shop hangs in the balance.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for the traditional market town, as Butterwick opens today.

The team shared the news on social media: "Our Oakham store opens today!

"See you there with stacks of bakes, shakes, and coffee at 41 High Street, LE15 6AH."

The franchise already has stores in:

  • Corby
  • Kettering
  • Market Harborough
  • Wellingborough
  • Northampton
  • Rugby
  • Rushden

Find out more about the services they offer online, or head to their Facebook page to follow the East Midlands franchise.
