Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns has said that she is 'frustrated', particularly about the education strikes, in a recent interview on BBC Politics East Midlands.

Ms Kearns voiced her frustration at the strike action taking place, adding that "the Government is doing all it can".

Conservative MP, this weekend, defended the Government, stating that the average teaching wage is £39,000 per year.

Watch the interview below:

Ms Kearns' concern appears to be the increase in inflation caused by a pay increase, a concern mirrored by the Bank of England.

However, local teachers disagree, one commenting on her Instagram post, saying: "The education system (like the health system) is chronically underfunded, understaffed and under resourced and this is leading to the children ultimately being failed."
