Rutland and Melton MP visits Stamford schools to find out about their work within the local community
Alicia Kearns, MP for Rutland and Melton, has paid a visit to Stamford Endowed Schools.
On Friday 23 June, Alicia Kearns visited Stamford Endowed Schools to learn more about the school and their contribution to the local economy.
Alicia met with Principal, Will Phelan, Bursar, Dean White, and Tom Cartledge, who is the Chair of Governors.
Stamford Endowed Schools plays a key role in supporting our local communities and businesses, as well as providing education to many Rutlanders.
Alicia Kearns MP, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton said: "I was delighted to be invited to meet with Stamford Endowed Schools and hear more about the school's role in our local communities both in terms of their first-class education of our children, but also their vital contribution to our local economies.
"We are very fortunate to have such wonderful schools locally, and Stamford is certainly no exception to this. It is evident how passionate the team of staff here are about the bright futures of our school children, and their ethos to help them to be the best version of themselves clearly shines through in everything they do."
Stamford Endowed Schools has been educating young people since 1532 with a strong focus on giving young people the opportunity to thrive. The school's aim is to "help them be the best version of themselves, to become rounded and grounded individuals ready for the next chapter of their lives".
They run a Stamford Card scheme, in which users pay £10 per month to earn points and exclusive benefits when shopping with local businesses. 100% of the profits from this scheme go towards supporting the school's Bursary Fund, which provides fee assistance for children across the community.
A similar scheme has just launched in Oakham, hosted by Carolyn Acton-Reed of Oakham & Rutland Events.
