Rutland college fundraiser makes £3,000

By The Editor 25th Oct 2020

Around £3,000 has been raised for the fire ravaged Uppingham Community College in a charity bike ride.

The Fire Relief Sportive, held last Sunday, featured more than 200 cyclists including a team of staff and students from UCC to ride the courses.

Lisa Thipthorp, whose company Gretton-based events company WildDog Events organised the fundraiser, told Nub News: "The smiles as people came over the finish line said it all.

"There were some complaints about the hills but a huge sense of achievement & a wonderful community feeling!

"We're delighted to report that, a couple of invoices outstanding, we have raised around £3,000 for the school.

"We're delighted and extremely grateful to our sponsors (Rutland Cycling, CX Consultants, The Crown Uppingham & Welland Valley Physio) and our wonderful team of volunteers."

As Nub News previously reported, two courses were on offer- 22 miles and 51 miles.
