Rutland garden centre launches festive courtyard with snow machine

A Rutland garden centre has launched a 'Festive courtyard', which even includes a snow machine.

The Welland Garden Inspirations garden centre offers four varieties of potted and fresh cut Christmas trees.

The centre on Glaston Road, Uppingham, said on Facebook: "All outside in a safe shopping environment which this year includes a snow machine to get you in the spirit!"

The garden centre, which has operated for 40 years, also said real Christmas trees are better for the environment.

"A real tree is more sustainable and has a lower carbon footprint.

"For every tree cut another seeding is planted. You would need to use an artificial tree for 15 years to make it nearly as green as one real tree.

"A real tree absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen. The energy intensive production of an artificial tree has a much greater carbon footprint.

"The most sustainable way to go is a potted tree that can be planted out after the festive season."

As Nub News reported recently, Christmas has come early at Welland Vale, with it open throughout the current lockdown and Christmas products already in stock.

In recent days, poinsettias and Christmas cacti, for example, have already arrived.

Welland Vale also commented on Facebook: "We've been noticing people have been putting Christmas decorations up much earlier than previously this year.

"Have you? Are you going to try and make 2020 Christmas as special as you can this year after a rather rubbish 9 months?? Or are you writing this one off completely?"
