A fourth-generation family-owned logistics business in Rutland has reported a bumper rise in profits and revenue.

C.S Ellis (holdings), which is headquartered in South Luffenham has reported a turnover of £22.3million for the 12 months to June 30 2019, up from £19.3million the year before.

Pre-tax profits also rose from £651,739 to £1 million for the company which was founded in 1933.

The directors' report said the board was "pleased with another strong year for the group".

"Turnover has increased at all of the three main trading companies, C, C S Ellis (Group) Ltd, Pacwolf Fulfilment Ltd and Versatile Venues Ltd.

"More than half of this increase comes from C.S Ellis (Group) Ltd which saw a big spike in demand for customers taking advantage of the company's wide range of logistics solutions."

It added: "The improvements made in recent years has put the company and wider group in a good position to be able to service this demand. Futhermore, this investment has helped overall efficiencies and profit margins."
