Rutland MP Alicia Kearns has given birth to her new baby.

The MP made the announcement yesterday on both Twitter and Facebook.

However, the sex of the baby, the weight, and the location of the birth has not been disclosed.

The 36-year-old MP, who lives in Langham, already has a young son.

Her constituency office today said: "Both mother and baby are doing well."

Mrs Kearns said on Twitter: "We're delighted to announce the safe arrival of our second child.

"While my family and I take some time to welcome our new arrival, my phenomenal team will continue to support constituents by email and phone and I will be in daily contact with them to help residents."

On Facebook, she added: "I plan take a few weeks away from social media, but my team will continue to keep residents updated with important local and national news, and updates on COVID-19 via this page.

"My team and I will continue to speak daily, so even the most complex of cases will receive the same standard of support."

The MP has received congratulations from hundreds of constituents, MPs and others.

Among the MPs were Health Secretary Matt Hancock, plus Kwasi Kwarteng, Steve Baker and Tom Tugendhat.

Among those from her Rutland & Melton constituency were Rutland Police, Grainstore Brewery, Round Corner Brewing Ltd, Rutland's High Sheriff, and Rutland and Melton Labour Party.
