Rutland parents have been offered the chance to have their say surrounding the school and educational experiences of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Share by the Rutland Parent Carer Voice group, Rutland County Council is working with The Mighty Creatives to create a video about children with SEND and their parents in Rutland.
The parent-led group, who strive to support SEND-friendly spaces in Rutland schools, posted on social media: "Would you like to share your views about your child's school life?
"Does your child go to a school in Rutland? Are you keen to share what is working well for you and your child and also any barriers to you and your child feeling fully welcomed and included in school life?
"Rutland County Council is working with The Mighty Creatives to produce a short video about being a child or young person with SEND or a parent carer supporting a child with SEND in Rutland. The aim is to understand the experiences of SEND children and young people who are in local schools by capturing personal stories through a short, animated video.
"The Mighty Creatives will host a relaxed focus group for approximately six parents where you can share your honest thoughts about how your child feels about their school life.
"Your story will be edited using animation and where necessary, voiceovers, to provide anonymity and then included in a video compilation to be shared with other parents and schools via the Local Offer. The completed video will also include the views of children and young people.
"Participation in the video is completely voluntary. You can still join the focus group and choose not to be filmed."
If you are interested in taking part or would like more details, please register your interest by 15 March with Lesley Hawkes on [email protected].
