Rutland railway bridge re-opens a day early

By The Editor 8th Jul 2021

A major Rutland railway bridge has re-opened a day early after several months of repairs.

The £2.8M scheme meant the closure of the A6003 at Manton, leading to a lengthy detour since the work started in April.

The road opened at 2pm yesterday instead of the planned today.

Welcoming the re-opening yesterday, Rutland MP Alicia Kearns said: "Nearly 24 hours early it's great news to report that the A6003 is now open again at Manton.

"Still expect a bit of a delay but looking much safer and we're all relieved to see an end to diversions! "

"Credit to Lucy Stephenson County Councillor for putting in place a strong agreement that most certainly encouraged the works to be completed on time!"

As Nub News recently reported, the works will continue until the end of the month until final completion.

However, after heavy rain and thunderstorms in the county over the weekend, Rutland Council warned of flooding on the road yesterday, advising people to use caution.
