The Save Ryhall Library campaign group have been working hard since Rutland County Council announced in January that the authority could no longer afford the costs needed to repair the library.

Since this announcement by Rutland County, campaigners have been busy holding local meetings, spreading awareness to the press, building support and compiling a petition, which has now been signed by over 2,100 people.

The group is now planning a demonstration to take place on Thursday 27th February to show the support the library has at an important council meeting to take place that evening.

Campaigners are planning to gather outside Oakham Library at 6pm with glowsticks, torches and placards, and walk to Rutland County Council head quarters for their meeting at 7pm.

The demonstration may apply pressure on the council to move towards options other than closing the library, as it is a pillar of their local community, housing multiple groups run by volunteers and providing a safe, warm place for local people to go when they need it.
