The St John Ambulance Oakham Cadet Unit is keen to hear from any potential new adult volunteers able to give up a few hours each month to support our Youth Programme.

St John Cadets provides young people aged 10 to 17 years old the chance to learn vital lifesaving first aid skills and be part of an organisation where they can learn new skills and experience a variety of volunteering opportunities.

New volunteers need to be over 18 years old, they will start as a Youth Helper and can progress to become a Youth Leader.

All volunteers are supported throughout their journey by a local team and all necessary training is provided, through a mixture of face to face and online sessions. Volunteers also have opportunities to support other roles too such as logistics, training, first aid and event support.

As a Youth Helper it is all about helping young people build up their confidence and self-esteem, developing leadership and teamwork skills, and having some fun along the way.

As part of the Youth Team, volunteers get access to exclusive discount sites including Blue Light Card. All reasonable expenses are covered, and training and uniform is provided. As well as running cadet sessions, there will also be opportunities to support cadets at events like concerts and football games.

Anyone interested can find out more about the roles online.
