Tickets go on sale for Rutland Variety Performance in memory of Lorna Grey, devoted Oakham fundraiser

Lorna's Legacy has put together a Rutland Variety Performance to take place on Wednesday 23rd July to honour the life of Lorna Grey and her dedication to fundraising and giving back to her community.
Lorna passed away in April 2024, aged 71 and was known around Oakham and Rutland for her devotion to fundraising and volunteering.
The event will take place at Oakham School on Wednesday 23rd July with seventeen acts performing, including singers, dancers, comedians, musicians, and a fire artist.
Throughout her life, Lorna was a passionate supporter of Supershoes, a small charity which works to empower children living with cancer by creating personalised 'supershoes' to connect them with their own super powers. Lorna's funeral raised for than £4,000 for the charity and her family have since raised an additional £2,500 from a sponsored skydive.
All the proceeds from the variety performance will go to Supershoes, with founder Sarah White appearing at the event.
Allan Grey, Lorna's husband, said: "When we first talked about hosting an event in Lorna's memory, we all agreed that the focus had to be on having fun. That's what Lorna would bring to any occasion and we're confident we have a line-up that would meet her expectations.
"We have been thrilled by the number of performers who have volunteered their time to support the cause. There will be a wide range of talent on show and we've certainly ticked the box for variety."
The event will begin from 6pm to enjoy some entertainment along with food and drinks before the show kicks off properly at 7pm.

Performers on the line up include Flying Solo, the D'ukes of Rutland, the Jazettes and The Houndogs with presenters Caroline Aston and Rutland and Stamford Sound's Rob Persani. There will also be a great array of surprise acts and local talent completing the line-up.
Tickets cost £45 each and are available online.
