The Uppingham Homes Community Land Trust (UHCLT) has described a new house as a "historic milestone in affordable housing" as the first home in the scheme welcomes new tenants.

Combined with the support for Rutland County Council, UHCLT has delivered affordable housing in Uppingham that meets both the needs of local families and the community as a whole.

UHCLT has a commitment to building sustainable, community-led housing which has been missing from Uppingham and Rutland. The new house marks the realisation of their vision to provide affordable, secure housing for local families that would otherwise struggle to find accommodation in Uppingham.

According to Mark Shaw, Letting Manager, "the delivery of this home is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, local authorities and passionate individuals work together.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to making this a reality."

This first home is only the beginning of UHCLT's long-term commitment to provide affordable housing solutions and homes to collaborate with local partners, volunteers and the community to continue working towards this goal.
