What's on in Oakham this weekend: Remembrance events, a charity dance, book swap, family fun and more

Victoria Hall Heritage Craft Fair

On Saturday the 12th of November, Victoria Hall are hosting their Heritage Craft Fair and open day. 

The event will run from 10 am until 4pm and will play host to a range of stall holders and crafters displaying their skills.

These include:

  • silversmithing
  • weaving 
  • wood crafts
  • book binding

...and much more!

This event is free and open to the whole community.

Rutland Concert Band Remembrance Concert

On Saturday the 12th of November Rutland Concert Band will be hosting an evening of music at All Saints' Church to raise money for The Royal British Legion. 

The music begins at 7:30pm, so head down in plenty of time to get your tickets and get the best seats!

Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased on the door or via [email protected].

There will also be a range of Council-led events going on to mark Remembrance Day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Find out more about these free events here.

Rutland Community Fridge Dance Fundraiser

On top of the charity events going on in aid of The British Legion, Rutland Community Fridge will be hosting a Community Dance to raise money to enable the hard work undertaken by the team each week.

This will take place at Uppingham Town Hall on Saturday the 12th of November, from 7:30pm until 10:30pm.

Magical Lantern Walk

On Saturday 12th November, the free Magical Lantern Walk 2022 will be going ahead from All Saints' Church at 4:30pm.

Join the children of Rutland as they process through Oakham with warm glowing lanterns at dusk.

Make your own lantern or join us at the lantern making workshop on Saturday the 29th of October in the Great Hall at Oakham Castle.

The procession begins at 4.40pm, weaving it's way through Cutts Close all the way to Oakham Castle. There, lanterns are lined up on the orange rope, for all to amire. Warm drinks and small snacks are available from Castle Cottage Cafe.

Oakham Charity Book Swap

Join the Oakham Book Swap team on Tyne Road, Oakham, for the big book swap on Sunday the 13th of October from 9:30am until noon.

All books will be available for you to swap - bring your unwanted books to swap or make a donation to this month's chosen charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK, as the team help raise awareness during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

There will also be raffle tickets and a small selection of handmade gifts available to purchase, proceeds from which will also be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK.
