20th Aug 2021 | Local News

Paul Browne (Liberal Democrat) has been elected as Ward Member for Oakham South following a local by-election yesterday.

He was elected with 886 votes and will serve as a Rutland County Councillor until the next round of normal elections in 2023.

The Conservative Party candidate Andrew Edward Burton gained 420 votes.

As Nub News previously reported, Coun Browne replaces Nick Woodley, a Conservative, who resigned after the council voting to approve a housing scheme off Braunstone Road after the then Coun Woodley spoke out against it.
