A local man has got in touch with Oakham Nub News asking, with so little rain recently, 'why are the Council lawn mowers in action'?

Oakham resident Glyn Birch said: "So, we have had no rain for ages, the grass is brown and hasn't grown in weeks (months?) so why are the Council lawn mowers in action? The guys would be better off spraying the weeds in the pavements that ARE growing!"

This comes after Oakham residents were appalled by littering taking place in Cutts Close, and a group of local people came forward to voice their concerns about the upkeep of Oakham town centre.

However, Oakham Town Council have recently announced that they are looking for a Ground Maintenance Person to assist with the upkeep of the local area.

The role will cover 30 hours a week and salary is specified upon application.

Upon the appointment of this Maintenance Person, Oakham residents hope that the weeds and litter will be a thing of the past.
