Rutland u3a monthly meeting
Victoria Hall Oakham
Leisure
UNTIL Thursday 4th July

This month's meeting will start with a brief AGM and there will then be a talk from Chris Hewis on Tom Otter. The famous tale of a man who murdered his pregnant wife on their wedding night on 3rd November 1805 still endures. The story has been faithfully reproduced over the years. You can find the same version widely on the internet, and ghost-hunters regularly visit the Sun Inn at Saxilby, where the inquest was held. His gibbet stood on Doddington Road for 50 years. But how much of the tale is folklore and how much is true?
The hall is open for tea or coffee at 10am with the meeting starting at 10.30am.
The meeting is free to members with membership costing £10p.a. New members are welcome.
