The top-rated Olive Branch at Clipsham has won yet another award.

This time it has been declared Pub of the Year at the GQ Food & Drink Awards 2021.

Magazine readers voted for the pub to be the category winner, in the awards which is in its seventh year.

The magazine said: "This storybook village may be all open fires, flagstone floors and exposed beams, but don't let the sleepy setting fool you, for the food here is far from sedate.

"Chef Luke Holland steers clear of traditional pub fare in favour of dishes such as crab custard, yuzu, pickled seaweed and ginger, while a classic chicken ballotine is brought bang up to date with tarragon gnocchi and peas plucked fresh from the paddock garden.

GQ continued: "The secret to the Rutland outpost's success? "Taking a little extra care at every turn," says Cochran. Nothing is an afterthought, from a pub shop full to bursting with local cheeses, pickles and preserves to its very own Olive Ale (brewed in nearby Oakham). Make no mistake, The Olive Branch is worthy of its many awards, so much so, in fact, that we've added one more to the list."

The Olive Branch, whose managing director is co-founder Ben Jones, said on Facebook: "We're extremely proud to have won Pub of the Year in the GQ Food & Drink Awards 2021! ðŸ†

"Here's Ben receiving the trophy from Claudia Winkleman last Monday evening."

Earlier this year, the pub in Main Street, Clipsham, was named as one of the country's top 50 gastropubs, as previously reported by Nub News.

The Good Pub Guide also declared it Pub of the Year 2021 recently.
