The owner of Wool Zone in Oakham is knee deep in yarn as she cosies up with a '100 days of scarves' challenge.

Julie, who creates and crafts as well as running her craft shop on Oakham's Church Street, is tackling a 100 days of scarves challenge to showcase the kind of makes that she and other creative customers at her store have been working on recently.

Julie shared the first of her makes on the shop Facebook page earlier this month: "New Year and a new challenge - 100 days of scarves. A customer suggested I should post a picture in a scarf each day for 100 days, so 1 January seems like the perfect place to start! Most will be old, some new and there will be duplicates."

She has since shared a host of wonderful knitwear, including garments made by herself and friends, to help inspire local creatives wanting to step up their knitting game:

Last year, Julie and a number of loyal customers at her Church Street shop, have been working hard to add a splash of colour to the walkway outside Wool Zone.

Julie said: "I decided that it would be nice to brighten up the area, so I asked some customers to join me, and together we have decorated the signpost at the front of the shop.

"It was a fun project and has added a little something to the street outside the shop."

Formally located on Northgate, Wool Zone can now be found on Oakham's Church Street.

Run by knitting pro Julie, the shop sells yarn, knitting needles, pattern books, buttons and crafting equipment, as well as handmade garments by Julie herself and much more.

The craft and wool shop has also been nominated, alongside a host of other popular local businesses, in the Rutland Melton Independent Shop Awards.

You can find the shop at 18 Church Street, from 10am until 4pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Julie looks forward to welcoming customers new and old to visit the vibrant attraction and browse the wide range of stock in store.
