An official notice has been published for a referendum on the adoption of the Ketton and Tinwell Neighbourhood Plan.

This follows the introduction of the Market OvertonLangham, and Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plans over the last year.

The Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan is also under discussion, alongside the Wing, Whissendine and North Luffenham Neighbourhood Plans.

The Referendum for the Ketton and Tinwell iteration of the council-led scheme will be held on Thursday 20 July 2023.

Residents will be asked:

'Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Parishes of Ketton and Tinwell to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?'

Neighbourhood Planning gives local communities the opportunity to shape development in their area through the Localism Act 2011. Full details of the Ketton and Tinwell Neighbourhood Plan can be found online

Anyone with questions about the Plan should contact: [email protected]. Further information can also be found on the website for Ketton and Tinwell Joint Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group.

More than 50% of the votes cast in the referendum must be in favour of the Neighbourhood Plan to bring it into force. As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must then formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum date.

Polling stations in the referendum will not have copies of the Neighbourhood Plan and polling staff are unable to answer any questions about the proposals, so make sure you read up on the proposal before going to vote.

Further details can be found in the full Notice of Referendum, published online
