Wing Neighbourhood Plan in the works
Rutland Council Cabinet have approved the public consultation plan for the Wing Neighbourhood Plan.
This follows the introduction and rollout of the Langham, Oakham and Barleythorpe, and Uppingham Neighbourhood Plans as a part of the county-wide project.
The cabinet of Rutland County Council, meeting for the first time since the elections last month, has approved the draft Wing Neighbourhood Plan.
Cabinet members were required to consider whether the plan complied with the relevant statutory requirements, and approved a public consultation period which will run for six weeks.
Wing Parish Council has prepared the draft plan, in which they say: "This plan is being created by residents in the expectation that in the future the views and wishes of the Wing community are taken into account when planning applications are submitted in the parish.
"Local people now have a greater say about what happens in the area in which they live by preparing a neighbourhood plan that sets out policies that meet the needs of the community whilst having regard for local and national policies.
"The aim of this plan is to put forward the wishes of the community regarding future development and to deliver local aspirations within the context of the strategic planning framework."
Portfolio holder for planning and property, Cllr Paul Browne (Lib Dem), said: "This plan contains a number of policies, including some areas where the parish council will support development activity, and other areas such as 'local green spaces' that the community wish to protect. These policies have been drafted following engagement with the residents, landowners and other stakeholders within the parish."

Members voted unanimously to begin the public consultation process.
