Oakham's long-awaited Neighbourhood Plan is moving closer to being put to a public vote.
The plan, which aims to guide development in Oakham and Barleythorpe until 2036, went through a consultation phase earlier this year, before it was given to a planning inspector for inspection, as previously reported by Nub News.
A report prepared for Oakham Town Council meeting tomorrow evening is recommending £3000 be put aside to account for 'adjustments' needed in part due to the withdrawal of the Rutland Local Plan.
It said: "The Neighbourhood Plan (NHP) had reached a point where the steering group, with support of the Town Council had submitted it for inspection by the Independent Examiner.
"The report has come back and is positive, the indicative recommendation is that the NHP is put forward to referendum subject to some adjustments. The adjustments are due in part to the withdrawal of the Rutland County Council Local Plan.
"There would be a cost in making these adjustments, the current NHP Budget Heading has a nil balance and to ensure the NHP can progress this item is asking for an additional budget.
"The expenditure is not expected to exceed £3000, it may be as low as only £500.
As we draw ever closer to the referendum there may be other expenditure as a result and the £3000 should easily cover the report adjustments and the required continued use of the online NHP web page." No timeframe is given in the report as to when the referendum may take place, but either way, it would need the support of a majority of those voting to come into effect.
