Push for female soccer players in Rutland

A growing football club is seeking Rutlanders to join it.

Asfordby Amateurs Ladies Football Club began life back in 1999.

It wasn't long before the players wanted to give the girls of Melton a serious chance to play football and so the girl's section was started and we became Asfordby Amateurs Ladies and Girls Football Club.

More recently an Inclusive Club for children with learning disabilities were introduced and is going from strength to strength.

Further work was done with Melton Borough Council to take football closer to the community and in no time we were running 'Street Soccer' sessions in various places around the community.

Our club together with the local schools authority have organised and run the Melton and District Primary Schools Girls League for several years now.

AALGFC together with its sub sections truly is a Community Club and this was recognised by the FA when we were given Charter Standard Community Club Status.

We pride ourselves on being able to offer football to all types of individuals regardless of age, sex, and ability. We strongly believe that anyone who wishes to play should be given the chance no matter what his or her level of skill or fitness.

This policy has in no way damaged the clubs ability to be successful on the field with many teams season after season winning league and cup titles and we have even had in our short history U19s girls go to England Trials and that's besides the many who have played for the local schools of excellence.

Whatever you look for from being a member of our club, whether it is fitness, improve your skills, friendship or a combination of these, I hope you enjoy the experience and above all have some fun."
