Residents in North Luffenham have voted in favour of a Neighbourhood Plan for their area, following a referendum on Thursday 19 October 2023.
The referendum asked residents:
Do you want Rutland County Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Parish of North Luffenham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?
More than 50% support from those who voted is needed to bring a Neighbourhood Plan into force.
The number of people who voted 'Yes' in response to the referendum question was 144. The number voted 'No' was 20. Total turnout for the referendum was 26.03%.
As the Local Planning Authority, Rutland County Council must formally adopt the Plan within eight weeks of the referendum.
This follows the introduction of the Ketton and Tinwell, Market Overton, Langham, and Oakham and Barleythorpe Neighbourhood Plans over the last eighteen months.
The Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan is also under discussion, alongside the Whissendine Neighbourhood Plan.
Neighbourhood Planning gives local communities the opportunity to shape development in their area through the Localism Act 2011.
Further information about the Neighbourhood Plan itself can be found online, while the full Declaration of Result of Poll for the North Luffenham Neighbourhood Plan referendum can be viewed here.
