For Rutland, a local charity that fundraises for Citizens Advice Rutland (CAR), is getting ready to host its annual Good & New Clothes Sale in March - but the team need your help collecting garments, accessories and more for the fashion fundraising extravaganza.

For Rutland raises funds to pay for specialist advisers at Citizens Advice Rutland, who provide free, confidential, independent, non-medical advice to people of all ages who are living with long-term health conditions in Rutland and the surrounding area.

Since For Rutland started in June 2014, the specialist advisers have obtained over £8m for local people through benefit gain, debt write-off or grant funding.

The team explained: "1 in 4 people in the UK suffer from long term conditions, such as cancer, strokes, dementia, multiple sclerosis, heart disease and mental illness. This affects every part of our community and people of all ages.

"The point of diagnosis is often just the beginning. Living with the practical problems associated with long-term conditions can be overwhelming at a time when people are at their most vulnerable."

As such, fundraising events such as this are key to the ongoing success of CAR.

The team put out a plea for support on their social media: "Can you help fill our rails?

"If you are clearing out your wardrobes it would be great if you could donate your good quality pre-loved clothes, shoes and accessories for the For Rutland Good & New Clothes Sale.

For clothes drop off or collection please email [email protected], or contact Trish Ruddle on 07801319222 or Viv Aers on 07833463900 to arrange a suitable time.

Alternatively you can leave your clothes with Cavells in Mill Street, John Porter Dry Cleaning in Market Street, Allsaints Hairdressing, The George Hotel, all in Oakham, or Uppingham's Costa or, finally, Mews of Stamford.
