Today, Friday 24 March, The Sunday Times have released a definitive list of why Rutland is one of the best places to live in 2023.

The county's motto is 'multum in parvo', meaning 'much in little', and this has once again been confirmed in the article from The Sunday Times, which begins: "England's smallest county offers a large choice of perfect property and upmarket market towns."

Author Tim Palmer also highlights the array of shops, pubs, art galleries, schools, and public transport options as some of the county's appealing features.

Palmer compares Rutland's landscape, geology and houses with the neighbouring Cotswolds, but without the "crowds, the pretentious of the preposterous house prices."

This is a part of The Sunday Times's comprehensive guide, containing 8 locations in the region that represent the best of Britain.

Judges rate the locations on a range of features, from broadband coverage to atmosphere and attractions.

With the new broadband provider, Upp, building their network across the county, and new attractions such as Rumble Live Action Gaming moving into town, as well as the historic charm of the county, it is clear why Rutland has been recognised.

However, residents have noted that, with the highest Council Tax in England, locals to the area should be one of the best places to live.

One resident took to social media, saying: "Well it should be good considering the Council Tax charges."
