The For Rutland Grand Bottle Tombola

Following on from the fantastic success of the For Rutland Good&New Sale, which raised a net profit in the region of £44,000, the next fundraising event is the Grand Bottle Tombola at The Rutland Show, which this year is on the 2nd June. This will be the 10th Anniversary of For Rutland, which launched at The Rutland Show back in 2014. It's a not-to-be-missed attraction at the show and is probably one of the busiest stands, in the big marquee situated right next door to the Main Ring.

The work has already begun with 60 volunteers going out and about in and around Rutland, posting over 6,000 cards through letter boxes giving details of how to donate. The cards are hand delivered right across the region from Ashwell to Wymondham and beyond.

Bottles and donations are collected at the drop off points listed here by the 28th May: Barrowden Community Shop; Edith Weston Village Store; Market Overton Store; The Fox at North Luffenham; Cottesmore Post Office and Shop; Ketton Post Office and Shop; Barbara's Store Empingham; and The Jackson Stops Stretton. There are also other two collecting points open from now right up until the tombola: John Porters Dry Cleaners in Oakham and Nelsons Butchers in Uppingham. Our sincere thanks go to every one of them.

At last year's Tombola the generous citizens of Rutland donated over 1500 bottles, with everything from champagne to shampoo available to win for a £1 ticket. The amount raised was in the region of £8000 and the team hope to beat that amount this year. It is important to stress how grateful the For Rutland team is to everyone who helps, contributes or donates as the event could not be the success it is without their support. If you can't make it to the stall at the show, but would still like to make a difference, please donate via the website.

For Rutland is the fund raising group of Citizens Advice Rutland (Reg Charity No 1107907) raising money annually to pay for the Specialist Advisers who provide invaluable non-medical advice to people of all ages living with the consequences of debilitating long-term health conditions. The amount gained by the Advisers in the last ten years now totals over £9.2million, a staggering amount of help and support for some of the most vulnerable in our community.
