Coronavirus crisis: Rutland MP Alicia Kearns says

Rutland MP Alicia Kearns says she will call for swifter progress from lockdown, if the data allows.

But she says this depends on Rutlanders continuing to follow guidance and taking their vaccine when offered.

The MP issued a statement last night following Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealing his roadmap out of recovery in parliament yesterday afternoon, as shown in the link here.

Mrs Kearns said: "I welcome the Prime Minister's roadmap to re-open the country, the economy and our communities - we have long awaited the day where we can agree a path to recovery.

"While I am pleased to see a clear timeline, I will press for swifter progress if the data allows but this will only be possible if the people of Rutland and Melton continue to follow the rules, and if they receive their vaccine, when offered to do so.

"Today is a day for cautious optimism for all of us, but we must press forward to freedom."
