An Oakham chemist is offering while-you-wait coronovirus anti-body testing.

Rutland Late Night Pharmacy started the £50 finger-prick blood test this week, carried out by the High Street chemist's pharmacists by appointment only.

The test is designed to check if someone has detectable antibodies in their blood, which would indicate they have already had Covid-19.

It takes up to 15 minutes for the results and has a 90 percent accuracy rate. This means there is a chance of a false positive or false negative result.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency-approved test does not test for current coronavirus infection.

Pharmacy manager Huzefa Broachwalla told Oakham Nub News: "We started the anti-body testing this week and have had a very good response.

"At the moment we have only put out feelers by posting on Facebook to gauge interest, but we will be publicising the service further.

"We have kept the price low - in London the same test costs £150 - because we believe in providing a service to our local community.

"Rutland Late Night Pharmacy is about health care and the community."
