Parish councillors and clerks throughout the Rutland and Stamford are attending a series of online presentations about the imminent launch of Rutland and Stamford Sound.

This is the new community radio station for the area, led by the familiar voice of Rob Persani.

Presentations are led by Mary Hardwick, Chair of the Board of Directors of Rutland and Stamford Sound Community Interest Company (CIC), which will operate the station.

Mary gives the presentations, accompanied by Sarah Press, another member of the Board and original Advisory team.

Mary describes how the presentation takes councillors on a short journey of why and how the initiative came about. They learn about the people and processes behind the radio station.

The presentation, explains Mary, describes who makes up the Board, how they were chosen, the terms

of reference and key principles which have guided decisions and actions in establishing the pilot station.

Mary said: "Because we anticipate a lot of interest, we're offering a choice of days and times to meet by Zoom."

Councillors can book a space in the late afternoon of 11th and 18th February 2021.

Rutland and Stamford Sound grew out of a study initiated by Rutland County Council in the Autumn of 2020 to independently assess the feasibility of a new community station for the Rutland and Stamford Area.

The station is destined for success, as Mary Hardwick outlines. "Our belief that we can deliver a successful station to fill the gap left when Rutland Radio became 'Greatest Hits Radio' was unanimously supported by a Cabinet decision in mid-January with a grant to proceed to a pilot station phase as soon as possible".

Rutland and Stamford Sound is led by the familiar voice of Rob Persani, known to radio fans in the area for more than 20 years. The radio station is independent and local.
