Oakham Medical Practice Patient Participation Group return to represent the practice users
Oakham Medical Practice are set to see the return of a Patient Participation Group who will represent the practice users and aid in the communication and resolution of issues and patient experiences at the practice.
After publishing an open letter from local woman Harriet Flather in April, Oakham Nub News received some vociferous feedback on the practice.
Oakham Medical Practice then shared a statement about the care provided at the surgery with Oakham Nub News but, despite this, were forced to close their doors to patients only days later due to 'staff abuse'.
Since then, a Patient Participation Group has been formed and, although in their early stages, are encouraging residents to get in touch, providing their feedback, positive or negative, of the care they received at Oakham Medical Practice.
But what is a Patient Participation Group?
"A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients, carers and GP practice staff who meet to discuss practice issues and patient experience to help improve the service.
"Since April 2015, it has been a contractual requirement of NHS England for all GP practices to have a PPG and to make reasonable efforts for this to be representative of the practice population.
"It seems that the staff at OMP are prepared to sit down with us and move this group forward, to both help improve their service, but also to keep patients abreast of changes to GP provision, not just locally but nationally."
What happens next?
Oakham Medical Practice Patient Participation Group is reforming and would like patients of Oakham Medical Practice to offer one question they would like the practice to respond to.
Users should send their one question to the group by emailing [email protected].
