Two major housing schemes have been rejected by Rutland County Council.
The planning and licensing committee earlier this week voted against the applications for up to 66 homes in Whissendine and up to 75 homes in Ketton.
The rejections were made at a special meeting of the planning and licensing committee, called to determine the applications, as previously reported by Nub News.
The Muller Property Group sought to build a "a distinctive and high-quality development which adds to the overall character of the village" on 3.46ha of paddock land to the south Of Stapleford Road, Whissendine.
Council planning staff said much of the site is outside the planning limits for the village, as previously reported by Nub News.
Their report added: "There have been many objections to the development. Issues of policy, archaeology, highway safety, flooding and residential amenity have been considered but the policy issue is overriding in this instance."
The Pegasus Group sought to build 75 homes on a 5.52ha site off Park Road, Ketton, as previously reported by Nub News.
County planners recommended the scheme be refused, saying the agricultural site is outside the planned development limits for Ketton.
Their report added: "There have been many objections to the development. Issues of policy, archaeology, highway safety, flooding and residential amenity have been considered but the policy issue is overriding in this instance."
