Vaccinations against Covid-19 will begin at Leicester General Hospital tomorrow.

And in Rutland, GP surgeries will also start administering the vaccine before Christmas.

Alicia Kearns MP made the announcement yesterday on social media.

She posted on twitter: "People aged 80 & over as well as care home workers will be first to receive the vaccine along with NHS workers who are at higher risk.

"Invitations to attend have already started going out - please wait to hear.

"Vaccinations outside of hospitals will start being delivered by GPs the week after next in Leicestershire and Rutland."

The MP added: "Once the vaccination programme is ready, we expect to also have local hubs in Oakham and Melton."
