Oakham's Tesco and the Trussell Trust are uniting for three days to collect food to go to the Rutland Foodbank.

From today, 30 November, until Saturday 2 December, a group of volunteers from the Trussell Trust will be at Tesco in Oakham ready to receive donations ahead of the festive season.

The Trussell Trust, who runs Rutland Foodbank, aims to ensure that no one goes hungry, with a long term goal of eliminating the need for food banks across the country.

This year, Rutland Foodbank has fed a record amount of users, the cost of living crisis and now colder temperatures forcing Rutland residents to rely on the kindness of local donors and food bank services to feed their families.

As such, food collections such as these are essential, especially as households are forced to chose between food and heating as winter draws in.

On top of this, the team have been hosting their Reverse Advent Calendar so that families who use the food bank can enjoy a festive treat or two throughout December.

Find out more about Rutland Foodbank and the Trussell Trust online, or pop along to Tesco on South Street to drop an item in the basket until 2 December.
