Oakham Nub News has got 'up close' with a local business based in the heart of Oakham that is keen to help you with your financial planning.

A forward-thinking practice for aspirational individuals, families and business owners, Grayson Lewis Financial Planning "supports people who take a proactive approach to financial planning and are looking for more than just investment growth."

Grayson Lewis opened in January 2023, and moved into the former home of The Brew & Roast Co, 4 Knights Yard in the June, where the team have settled into their modern but cosy offices.

They have since been providing a wide range of financial services, including helping local people minimise tax, maximise wealth, protect against their unknown future.

The business is run by husband and wife duo, Nick and Kirsty Henbrey, who manage a multi-talented team which they "value immensely".

Born and raised in Oakham, Nick travelled all over the world while in the Royal Navy serving on submarines. After completing his training, he found himself permanently based in Scotland. Here is where the former Oakham School pupil met his wife, Kirsty, who was a Police officer at the time.

Unable to resist the call of Rutland, the pair relocated to Oakham, where they have become a part of the thriving business community along Gaol Street.

Having been welcomed back so warmly, Nick and the team want to give back to the community and are ready to work for you and your finances.

Nick said: "Clarity is everything when planning for your future. Making the best choices for you and your family can be confusing. However, with the right financial planning, you can take control and achieve levels of security that give you freedom to enjoy life.

"To achieve this clarity, I think it is important that people really understand what we do and what we can offer. Financial planning offers a long-term and well-rounded approach to dealing with your finances. Unlike financial advice, which concerns what to do with a specific query for example, financial planning allows us to really get to know our clients. We get to understand more about their families, their circumstances, career plans and long-term goals, so that we can position their finances looking to the future.

"If someone came to us and said, I want to invest money into my pension, we would take that a step further. We work to understand what they will need in retirement, what is their current provision and is it on the right track. We then work together to ensure that they can be comfortable in retirement, with a plan in place to keep them worry free in the future. We aim to take the worry away from their finances so they can focus on enjoying the present."

Among the services on offer with Grayson Lewis, clients can make the most of:

·      Investment planning

·      Financial protection

·      Estate planning

·      Mortgages

Nick added: "We have a multi-talented team that can help a range of customers, from local business owners – and their personal finances – to those looking for assistance as they head into retirement. We support our clients throughout their career, for example from inception of their business, to its sale, then retirement and beyond."

On top of supporting their customers, the team are also passionate about championing local businesses, and they have been getting in touch with their Gaol Street neighbours at Lily & Honey, where the team benefit from fresh bakes and bread, as well as enjoying plates from the new tasting menu being offered at Ovation.

Nick said: "It is important to give back to the local community, and we are part of a network of local businesses who believe in that.

"Thankfully, this is something we get to benefit from, and have enjoyed Lily & Honey and Ovation a bit too much – who I would be remiss not to give a shout out to. It's a very convenient having an artisan bakery and wine bar on our doorstep," he added, laughing.

I would highly recommend Grayson Lewis to anyone wanting expertise knowledge and needing help in understanding the right investment opportunities available to suit their needs."
