Wet weather did not spoil the success of the first of the monthly markets in town organised by 4Oakham.
The event in Gaol Street saw a variety of arts and crafts from 10am until 3pm.
Mayor Zoe Nealson said on Facebook on Saturday: The Mayor and family had a great morning visiting the craft market in Gaol Street organised by 4Oakham.
"There are a variety of stalls with beautiful handmade items to buy. If you're in Oakham today I'd definitely advise going to have a look."
After the market closed, a spokesman for 4Oakham commented: "Well thank you Oakham for making our first arts and craft market a success despite the weather.
"Our lovely stall holders can't wait to come back on Saturday 7th August. We have a lot of pre bookings from small businesses who couldn't make today so it will be double the size next month."
