Uppingham Late Night Shopping, which is set to take place on Thursday 1st December 2022, has faced trials and tribulations this year, but the brand-new organisational team are working together to save the event with an online raffle to raise much-needed funds.

Uppingham Late Night Shopping is a popular annual event that takes place on the run up to Christmas, with shops opening into the evening and vendors, food and drink stalls, and family entertainment taking to the streets to get the market town into the festive spirit.

This year, a whole new group of organisers are planning this event after the Uppingham Town Partnership made the decision to cease activities in August this year. Now, the main organisers are Paula Donaldson and Libby Garden, who are responsible for saving the event. 

Uppingham Ward holder with Rutland County Council, Stephen Lambert, is also a part of the team organising the 2022 Late Night Christmas shopping event, and he is keen to spread the word about the raffle that is being organised to raise funds.

The Liberal Democrat Cllr explained: "The Late Night Shopping event itself means a huge amount to people in Uppingham and is usually attended by hundreds of people from across the County.

 "Starting from scratch has meant that the group has had to urgently raise funds to keep the event alive. As part of the fundraising efforts, we have launched an online raffle, with several prizes donated by local individuals and businesses."

The team are encouraging locals and Rutland residents to join the raffle, with the opportunity to win big and support a much-treasured local event.

Prizes in the raffle include theatre tickets, a full family photoshoot, £250 towards a car service, and more. Tickets are only £1 and you can buy multiple tickets.

The winners will be announced by Rutland & Stamford Sound's Rob Persani at 8pm at the shopping event.
