Royce Rangers FC 50th Anniversary Event

OAKHAM'S ROYCE RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB

CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY

On the 31st August Royce Rangers Football Club celebrates its milestone 50th Anniversary by hosting an event at their pitches at The Rutland Showground. Organisers hope that lots of the friends and families of the 300 boys and girls who play in the club's 22 teams will come along to enjoy the fun. There will be stalls, a bouncy castle, an inflatable obstacle course, food and drink and a Football Freestyler to have a go on. The fun day opens at 10:00am and will end at around 2:00pm, the ticket price is £1.00 for adults and kids go free.

Royce Rangers was founded in 1974 by Bob Pendreigh, Ted Duce and Chris Taylor. Sadly both Bob and Ted have passed away but the third founder member, Chris Taylor, is arranging for a memorial bench to be placed at the club's ground in honour of them. The club has gone from strength to strength over the last 50 years, mainly due to the efforts of all the volunteers who have happily given up their time to run the club and provide fantastic facilities for players aged from seven to seventeen.

The event is also a fundraiser. The club is raising money to go towards building  a new clubhouse and investing in more equipment for the children and teenager players, to help improve their football skills, development and enjoyment. Faye Walker, the club's fundraiser and events organiser said: "Royce Rangers has been such an important club to our town, we'd love this event to be a great success and raise lots of money so we can carry on supporting the club and its players for the next 50 years!"
