Rutland continues its amazing run of just 12 confirmed cases, according to official government figures.

As revealed by Oakham Nub News earlier this week , the figures are based on where hospital patients come from.

But Rutland County Council believes that since such figures do not include those with the virus at home or in care homes, there will be many unreported cases in the county and people must still follow government guidelines on going out.

Either way, Rutland's confirmed 12 cases are by far the lowest of any upper tier local authority in the county.

Meanwhile, more than 100 people who tested positive for coronavirus in Greater Lincolnshire have died in the county's hospitals.

This afternoon, the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust announced one further death, meaning 70 people in total have died in its hospitals.

The trust runs hospitals in Grantham, Lincoln, Boston and Louth, but as always, the trust won't say where the deaths occurred.

A trust spokesman said today: "The patient was a woman aged 80. She had underlying health conditions.

The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust has reported 31 deaths of people with coronavirus at its hospitals.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs hospitals at Stamford, Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospital did not update its figures again today.

Earlier this week, the trust reported 26 deaths in total at Peterborough City Hospital and 19 at Hinchingbrooke.

All patients had pre-existing conditions and were aged 30-90.

Across the region, the number of new cases continued to rise but the rate may be slowing down.

Public Health England reported 551 cases in Lincolnshire, an increase of 20 on yesterday.

Leicestershire saw an increase of 28 from 581 to 609.

North East Lincolnshire saw numbers increase by three from 86 to 89.

North Lincolnshire saw an increase of nine from 145 to 154.

Peterborough saw an increase from 113 to 120.

Across the UK, NHS England said a further 738 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Patients were aged between 32 and 101 years old, 30 of them had no known underlying health condition.

The UK-wide death toll now stands at 14,576, an increase of 847.
