Rutland councillors have delayed a decision on major village 'hub' project.

Members of Rutland County Council's planning committee considered the application from Barrowden Parish Council at a meeting last week.

County council planning staff had recommended approval for the plans to replace an existing Village Hall, Community Shop and Doctors Surgery, with new and improved facilities on the existing site.

As Nub News previously reported, the scheme had also received support from many villagers and was acceptable under a local development plan.

However, a council spokesman confirmed: "The decision on the proposal for a new village hub at Barrowden was deferred to a subsequent meeting, to allow Committee members to carry out a site visit."
