The under-9s of Oakham Rugby Football Club (ORFC) have been working hard to clean the streets of Oakham.

On Sunday 9 July, members of the under-9s team at ORFC took to the streets of Oakham to pick up litter and raise money for their annual tour.

Ashton, Ollie, Josh, Bayden, Archie, Ellis, Luca, Peyton, Nayer, and Harper hope to keep Oakham clean while raising funds for the 2024 minis rugby tour, which will see the whole team to make memories and grow on a residential team building trip.

The 10 teammates, alongside dedicated parents and ORFC supporters, hit the streets yesterday and collected a whopping 10 bags of litter in a range of public spaces, from Oakham Castle to Princess Avenue, including residential areas, verges lay-bys and local parks.

Craig, proud dad and supporter of the club, joined the litter pick. He said: "Ashton, Ellis, Josh, Archie , Bayden, Nayer, Luca, Ollie, Harper and Peyton did an amazing job clearing Oakham of 10 big bags of Rubbish and clearing the stream by Princess Avenue of a lot of litter, as well as a washing line post, two gas bottles and a number of large metal brackets. And all was done with a smile on their faces!"

The team finished their clean-up in the grounds of Oakham Castle.

They are hoping their their hard work will catch the eye, and the hearts, of Oakham residents, who may be able to support the 2024 ORFC under-9s and under-12s rugby tour.

Through this endeavour, they are aiming to raise £500 to put towards to 2024 tour. They have already raised over 40% of this target, but still have a away to go.

As such, any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated by the young but enterprising team.
