In association with The Rutland Pork Pie Appreciation Society and Sponsored by Moores Estate Agents, The Grainstore Brewery and Tap Rooms are hosting the Inaugural World Amateur Pork Pie Championships - and you're invited!

Formed out of a mutual love of all things Pork Pie, The Rutland Pork Pie Appreciation Society meets regularly at The Grainstore Brewery, bringing together hand raised pies made by those attending each meet. Others just turn up to enjoy the pie, banter and beer.

From these regular meets, a few too many pints, and a love for all things pork pie, the World Amateur Pork Pie Championships was born!

There is an entry fee of £5 per competitor, with all proceeds raised from this fee going to EMICS.

The East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme is a network of volunteer doctors with specialist training in pre-hospital emergency medicine who assist East Midlands Ambulance Service at the scene of life threatening emergencies. EMICS doctors provide advanced specialist skills at the point of accident or injury, where they are needed most.

As such, the event isn't only promising to be a stonker of a day out, but it's all in aid of a really great cause.

If you fancy entering the 'ChamPIEonships' just click the link, download the brief rules and regs, fill in the online form which should take no more than 2 minutes, and you'll be in. All you have to do is decide on your pie.

There are sure to be some glorious creations, since the pork pie is a staple food source in the midlands, with some hard-core Melton Mowbray residents claiming that the proper way to eat them is on Christmas day atop a thick slice of toast!

There are awards for the two Category Winners and Overall ChamPIEon. The event will be held on Saturday the 30th of July 2022, coinciding with the Grainstore's Alehouse Rocks celebration.
