Dozens of disused bicycles from RAF Wittering have been donated to the My Bike project to be recycled by inmates at HMP Stocken.

Royal Air Force personnel often keep a bicycle at work, they are a quick and environmentally-friendly way of getting around a station. As people move on to new stations, or retire from the RAF, their bikes are sometimes left behind.

A wheels-friendly walk around Rutland Water on Sunday (6 Oct) is being hosted by The Outdoor Guide (TOG), co-founded by Rutlander and television presenter Julia Bradbury.

Suitable for all types of wheels - whether pushchairs, wheelchairs, prams, buggies or bikes - the walk celebrates Ordnance Survey's National GetOutside Day and sets off from Normanton Car Park on the south shore at 10am.
